Body Piercing Quick Tips
DO NOT TOUCH IT!
Bacteria from fingers and other objects can enter the fresh piercing site and cause an infection.
If you need to adjust the position of your jewelry, wash your hands with hot soap water and rinse your piercing thoroughly in hot water first to keep it as clean as possible.
If your clothing, pillow, hat, hair glasses, etc are rubbing it, it can cause irritation, swelling, infection and even rejection of the piercing.
DO NOT REMOVE THE JEWELRY!
Your jewelry is the only thing keeping your piercing from healing closed. If you remove a piercing for any length of time in the first several months to even a year, your piercing can heal back up and you will have to have it re-pierced.
DO NOT SUBMERGE THE PIERCING!
Soaking the piercing in a bathtub, swimming pool, hot tub, lake, etc can irritate it and undo a lot of the delicate healing that has been done. It can also introduce bacteria and cause an infection.

IF YOU HAVE ORAL PIERCINGS
If you have a piercing in your mouth like a lip or tongue piercing, you want to keep the inside of your mouth clean as well.
Do not put your mouth on any objects or bodies (including yours or anyone else's)
After you eat or drink, give your mouth a swish with clean water and brush and floss your teeth as usual.
DO NOT USE CHEMICALS IN YOUR MOUTH
Mouthwash (even alcohol free) and whitening toothpastes can cause a bump and excessive scarring to form around the piercing.

DON'T FORGET TO DOWNSIZE
You will have longer jewelry for your initial piercing to accommodate for the expected swelling.
You should come back around 2.5 to 3 weeks to have a shorter piece of jewelry fitted.
This is important your teeth and gums and for the continued safe healing for your piercing
